SAN DIEGO – The No. 18 San Diego men's tennis program (21-3, 7-1 WCC) booked their place in the WCC Tournament final, rolling past No. 60 Santa Clara (18-7, 4-4 WCC), 4-0 on Friday afternoon at the Aztec Tennis Center.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• Seeking another WCC Tournament title, the Toreros opened their campaign to return to the title match with a strong start in doubles.
• The first to break through were Stian Klaassen and Oliver Tarvet, who earned a break point early in their match and didn't look back, winning 6-2.
• The remaining two matches proved to be tight through each player's first service games, but Sacchitt Sharrma and Iiro Vasa broke through.
• The duo stood tied at 3-3 but rattled off three straight games to secure the match and the doubles point.
• Singles was highlighted by terrific starts from the back end of the lineup, as Klaassen and Savriyan Danilov got off to huge starts.
• Klaassen wrapped up his match in a tidy fashion, winning 6-1, 6-1 while his teammate Lambert Ruland was finishing off a tiebreaking win in his opening set on the court next to him.
• Danilov promptly made it 3-0 with a 6-1, 6-3 victory and put the Toreros on the brink.
• Despite a number of break points going each way in the second set, Sharrma would ultimately pull away at 5-5, earning a 7-5 victory in the final set to clinch the match.

• The Toreros will face off against No. 2 seed and No. 39 ranked Pepperdine in the WCC Tournament championship match on Saturday at 10 a.m., at the Aztec Tennis Center.
