SAN DIEGO – Head coach
Cindy Fisher and the San Diego women's basketball program have announced their first signing of the offseason, inking
Paris Santacaterina as a transfer.
Santacaterina joins the Toreros after two seasons at Dodge City Community College and will have two seasons of eligibility left.
"Paris is a tremendous leader and an extremely talented point guard," said Fisher. "Her court vision, scoring ability and communication skills are going to add so much to our program. Paris is an amazing leader and has a work ethic that is second to none. She is a fantastic facilitator and takes a lot of pride in her team's success. We are thrilled to have her join our USD family!"
A native of Mackay, Australia, Santacaterina earned NJCAA All-American honors as a sophomore, as part of two highly successful seasons with Dodge City. A team captain and first team All-KJCCC, Santacaterina averaged 15.0 points per game, 6.0 rebounds per game, 4.5 assists per game and 1.7 steals per game as a sophomore, while shooting over 40 percent from three-point range.
Over her two college seasons, the guard tallied 745 points, 302 rebounds, 219 assists and 79 steals and helped Dodge City win a KJCCC title as a freshman. Santacaterina is also an Academic All-American, maintaining a 4.0 GPA through her first two years of college.
In addition, Santacaterina also shined in her youth and high school career, as she was named the U18 conference championship MVP and to the All-Conference top-five. A four-time Queensland State representative and two-time captain, Santacaterina is poised to continue leading and pursue a degree in education.
