SAN DIEGO — Winners of six in a row and 10 of its last 13 games, San Diego baseball (16-10, 4-2 WCC) remains at home this weekend to resume West Coast Conference play against Loyola Marymount, hosting the Lions (12-17, 1-5 WCC) for a three-game set at Fowler Park.
Due to impending inclement weather in the San Diego area, game one of the series will now begin at 1:05 p.m. on Friday. Games two and three on Saturday and Sunday currently remain unchanged, and are still scheduled for 5:05 p.m. and 1:05 p.m. starts, respectively.
Braden Surprenant will have the solo call on ESPN+ and USDToreros.com (free audio simulcast) on Friday afternoon before he joins Jack Cronin on the broadcasts for the remainder of the series.

Jakob Christian paired with a solid team effort from the USD bullpen powered San Diego to a convincing 9-3 midweek victory over USC on Tuesday night at Fowler Park, earning the Toreros their sixth consecutive victory and their 10th win in their last 13 contests.Â
• San Diego found itself trailing by two runs after the top of the second, but reclaimed the lead by plating two in the fifth and five in the seventh and eighth innings.Â
• Five USD pitchers threw scoreless innings in relief on Tuesday, including 2.2 fromÂ

Conner Thurman, who closed the game out to earn his first save of 2024.

Justin DeCriscio paced the Torero offense with a team-high three hits and three RBIs. Eight different Toreros recorded a hit on Tuesday night, and four finished with two or more.Â
Notable:
• Christian's fourth-inning solo shot marked his fourth homer in his last four games, and his team-best eighth of the season.Â

Drake Frize picked up the win on the mound for the Toreros on Tuesday evening, giving him a 3-1 record on the season.Â
• Christian went 2-for-4 at the plate and scored a team-high three runs.
• Tuesday night's game was delayed for 12 minutes in the bottom of the eighth inning after home plate umpire Bud Dunklin was struck by a pitch and had to leave the game due to injury. Dunklin walked off under his own power, but first base umpire Jason Kaminsky took over calling balls and strikes for the remainder of the contest.
• San Diego's current six-game win streak is its longest such streak so far this season.
ALL-TIME SERIES AGAINST LOYOLA MARYMOUNT
• The Toreros are 95-109-1 against the Lions all-time, with the two teams' most recent meeting coming last season in Los Angeles from April 28-30.
• USD took two of three from LMU that weekend at Page Stadium, beating the Lions 11-1 in game one and 6-3 in game two before dropping a close 10-9 decision in the finale.

Josh Randall (0-2, 2.96 ERA) is set to start game one for the Toreros against the Lions.
• He most recently pitched in game two of San Diego's series at Pacific last weekend, when he allowed four earned runs on five hits across three innings while walking one and striking out six.
• Across 27.1 innings and six starts in 2024 he has struck out 36 batters, walked only 10, and held opposing hitters to a .229 average.
• Randall, a 6-foot-4, 240-pound junior from San Juan Capistrano, California, transferred to USD from Arizona, where he spent his freshman and sophomore seasons.

SATURDAY: Reigning West Coast Conference Freshman of the Week
Logan Reddemann will make his sixth start of the season and eighth overall pitching appearance of 2024 when he takes the mound for USD on Saturday night.
• Reddemann (2-1, 4.88 ERA) most recently pitched last Thursday in game one of San Diego's series at Pacific, when he received the win after throwing seven shutout innings out of the bullpen (tied for USD's longest pitching appearance of 2024) while allowing only two hits, walking only one, and striking out 10, which tied the Toreros' individual single-game season high.
• So far in 2024 he has struck out 27 and walked 10 across a team-high 31.1 innings pitched.
• A 6-foot-2, 185-pound righty from Palmdale, California, Reddemann attended Quartz Hill High School in Lancaster, California, where he batted .420 across his prep career and compiled a 1.62 ERA.
• He earned First Team All-CIF Southern Selection honors in 2022 and 2023 and threw a perfect game during his senior season that included 11 strikeouts while going 3-for-4 at the plate with two doubles.
• Reddemann is a switch-hitting two-way player who could also play middle infield for USD.
SUNDAY: Graduate left-handed pitcher
Calvin Schapira will take the mound for San Diego in its series finale against Loyola Marymount in what will mark his fifth start of 2024 and his eighth overall pitching appearance.
• Schapira, who was named the WCC Pitcher of the Week on March 25, most recently appeared in USD's series finale at Pacific last Saturday. He surrendered two runs on seven hits that afternoon, striking out seven and walking none.
• So far in 2024 he has compiled a 3-0 record and a 3.64 ERA across 29.2 innings pitched, which is the second-highest total on the USD roster.
• Schapira attended USC (2019), Central Arizona College (2020), and Purdue (2021-2023) before transferring to USD as a graduate student this year.
• He has struck out a team-high 38 and walked only seven this season while holding opposing hitters to a .230 average.
• On March 23 against Saint Mary's he threw seven strong innings that saw him allow just two runs on two hits and two walks while striking out nine. His seven innings pitched that afternoon are now tied for the longest outing by a USD pitcher in 2024, and his nine strikeouts are the second-most by a Torero in a single game this season. Schapira's ensuing WCC Pitcher of the Week selection was the Toreros' first since April of 2022.
LOGAN REDDEMANN NAMED WCC FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK

Logan Reddemann has been named the WCC Freshman of the Week for April 1, 2024, the West Coast Conference announced on Monday afternoon.
• Reddemann was key to San Diego's series-opening victory at Pacific on Thursday night, throwing seven shutout innings out of the bullpen after entering in the bottom of the third inning. He was the only relief pitcher USD used on Thursday, and allowed only two hits, walked only one, and tied the Toreros' individual single-game season high with 10 strikeouts as he closed out the game in dominant fashion to earn his second win of 2024.
• The Palmdale, California native is the first-ever Torero to win the award, which was introduced by the WCC for the 2024 season.
• A San Diego player has now earned a weekly conference honor in three consecutive week after sophomore first basemanÂ
