Women's Rowing Concludes Season at WCC Championships

GOLD RIVER, CA — San Diego women's rowing finished second in the 2024 West Coast Conference Rowing Championship today, placing only two points behind Gonzaga with a total of 38 points.

USD's performance in the event was highlighted by a first place finish, two second-place finishes and a third-place finish. The Toreros' Second Varsity Eight came in first with a time of 6:51.39, bringing home gold medals in the event. First Varsity Eight came in second with a time of 6:50.852, joined by the San Diego First Varsity Four, which also placed second with a time of 7:56.137. The San Diego Second Varsity Four placed third with a time of 8:09.578.

"This was a great regatta to cap off our season and a strong send off to our graduating seniors" said head coach Dave Cormier. "Our 2V8 brought home the gold for the first time in that event since 2021. Several of the seniors in that boat were also in the same crew that won in 2021, so it was a nice bookend to their careers."

Following the event's conclusion, freshman Grace Kaufmann was named the WCC Newcomer of the Year and senior Emma Zavala won WCC Co-Coxswain of the Year.
