STILLWATER, Okla. – The San Diego men's tennis season concluded on Tuesday, as the Toreros wrapped up action at the NCAA Individual Championships on Tuesday afternoon at the Greenwood Tennis Center.
The day opened with
Oliver Tarvet competing in the round of 32 of the singles competition. The sophomore fell into an early hole against No. 22 Colton Smith of Arizona, dropping the opening set 6-2. While Tarvet put more pressure on his opponent in the second set, he was unable to convert on break point chances and ultimately dropped the second set.
Later that afternoon,
Stian Klaassen and
Sacchitt Sharrma made their NCAA doubles championship debut and got off to a solid start, as they were level at 4-4. However, they ultimately dropped the opening set, 6-4. Their opponents from Arkansas built a 5-3 advantage in the second set, but Klaassen and Sharrma rattled off four straight games to take the set and force a third set tiebreaker.
After the two teams traded the first three points of the ten-point tiebreaker, the duo of Barun and Horwood would ultimately pull away to seal the match.
