Breakdown With Blanche Volume Four: The Power of the Process

The new season has begun with plenty of excitement for what's ahead

Hey Torero Family,

The start of this season has been nothing short of special. Opening the year inside the Jenny Craig Pavilion with our fans, families and the entire Torero community has energized our group in ways that are hard to put into words. Your presence has made an immediate impact and we feel your support — and we're grateful for it —every time we step on the floor.

With each game and practice, our team is continuing to learn, grow, and discover who we can become together. We're committed to being process driven — showing up every day with the mindset to improve, compete, and play for one another. That daily investment is shaping our identity, and we're embracing every opportunity to get better.

This season, we've added new opportunities for our supporters to get an inside look at our program. Our Chalk Talk sessions before select home games have given our season ticket holders and Tip-Off Club members a behind-the-scenes view of how we prepare, what we emphasize and how we're developing this group each day. It's been an awesome way to connect and to share the heartbeat of our program.

We've also loved hosting "Time with the Toreros" following our home games. These moments — signing autographs, taking photos, talking with fans and allowing our players to share who they are beyond the jersey — have become some of the most meaningful parts of our game days. Our team values that connection deeply.

Looking ahead, we're excited for the challenges and opportunities this month brings. We play on the road against Colorado State tonight, Monday, November 17, a great test for our group as we continue to grow. Then we're back home for an 11 am tip vs. New Mexico State during Thanksgiving break. We'd love to welcome youth teams, school groups, clubs, and community organizations to join us for that midday game — a perfect chance to inspire the next generation of Toreros.

For more information on group experiences, reach out to Ryann Gibson at rgibson@sandiego.edu and we'll get you taken care of.

Thank you for showing up, supporting our team, and helping us build this new era of Torero Women's Basketball. The season is young, and the best is yet to come.

It's Torero Time!
