SAN DIEGO – Back in action for the second consecutive Monday, the San Diego women's basketball team (1-4, 0-0 WCC) will return to their home court bright and early as they take on New Mexico State (1-2, 0-0 Conference USA) on November 24 at 11:00 a.m. from the Jenny Craig Pavilion.
San Diego will be looking to respond from a 71-44 loss against Colorado State on the road. Despite the tough loss
Kylie Ray had another strong game scoring 20+ points for the third time in her four games played.
BACK IN THE SLIM GYM
- USD will be playing in their third game in their home arena in 2025 as they picked up a victory in the season opener against Bethesda, and came up short against Arizona State back on November 13.
- San Diego will look to keep up their strong work on the glass as they collected 10 more rebounds than the Rams and grabbed 11 more offensive rebounds during Monday's last game.
- Providing a nice boost for her team in the early part of the season, Hallie Rhodes ranks second on the Toreros averaging 8.8 PPG and three rebounds through her team's first five games of the season.
ALL-TIME SERIES VS NEW MEXICO STATE
- Monday morning's matchup in San Diego will be the fifth ever matchup against New Mexico State as the Aggies lead the all-time series 4-0. In the last couple matchups, the Toreros lost a pair of close games against New Mexico State, losing 57-52 in December 2022 and by a 79-75 final score in overtime during the 2003-24 season.
- The 2022 matchup was a back-and-forth game with plenty of notable performances from the Toreros, as Myah Pace played in her 100th game as a Torero and surpassed 3,000 minutes played. Kasey Neubert had a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds, leading the team in rebounds for a game where the Toreros corralled an impressive 46 rebounds.
SCOUTING THE AGGIES
- NMSU enters Monday morning's match with a 1-2 overall record, as they started their season off with an 87-48 loss to No. 18 USC against a tough foe in No. 18 USC and then played a pair of home state opponents, beating New Mexico Highlands 78-61 before losing 77-45 to New Mexico.
- Leading the Aggies early into the season, senior forward Lucia Yenes has been on a tear averaging 20.3 PPG while also ranking second in her team in rebounding with six boards a game and shooting 45% from the field.
- Strengthening the core of the team, sophomore forward Lucia Lara leads the team with 6.3 rebounds per game and has contributed five points per contest as well.
