SAN DIEGO — San Diego volleyball (24-4, 17-0 WCC) will seek just the third undefeated West Coast Conference season in program history on Saturday afternoon when it hosts Gonzaga (14-14, 7-10 WCC) at the Jenny Craig Pavilion to conclude its 2025 regular-season schedule.
USD and Gonzaga will face off at 12:00 p.m. in a matchup that will be streamed live on ESPN+ with Braden Surprenant on the call. Live statistics will be available on USDToreros.com and StatBroadcast.
IN PURSUIT OF PERFECTION
• A win over the Bulldogs on Saturday would make USD a perfect 18-0 in the 2025 WCC standings. USD has gone undefeated in conference play just twice before: 2022 (18-0) and 2004 (14-0).
THE STREAK
• USD enters Saturday afternoon's action on a 17-game win streak, which marks the programs' longest since 2022 and the sixth-longest streak of consecutive wins in the country.
In 2022, the Toreros led the nation with a 28-match win streak en-route to the NCAA National Semifinal.
FROM FIRST TEAM OUT…TO FIRST TEAM IN
• After ending up on the wrong side of the NCAA Tournament bubble in 2024, and being listed by some bracket analysts as the best team to not receive a 2024 NCAA Tournament at-large selection, USD left no doubt in 2025.
• With their WCC Championship-clinching win over Pepperdine last Thursday night, the Toreros became the first team in the country to qualify for the 2025 NCAA Tournament when they received the West Coast Conference's automatic bid.
• USD checked in at No 29 in November 28th's update of the NCAA's RPI ranking.
BENNETT NAMED WCC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
• Senior libero
Olivia Bennett earned her first-ever weekly conference honor on Monday when she was named the WCC Defensive Player of the Week for November 24, 2025.
• She amassed 36 digs (5.14 D/S) as the Toreros beat rival Pepperdine last Thursday night (November 20) to clinch the 2025 West Coast Conference Championship and moved its win streak to 16 with a victory at Santa Clara last Saturday afternoon (November 22).
• Bennett anchored the USD defense in its title-clinching match against the Waves, compiling a career-high 29 digs and 9.67 digs per set in a sweep over the Waves, then added seven more digs in the four-set win over the Broncos.
TOREROS OF THE WEEK
• San Diego has received a conference-best 16 weekly West Coast Conference awards in 2025, which have been earned by eight different players.
• USD has won the WCC Offensive Player of the Week award five times, the WCC Defensive Player of the Week award four times, the WCC Freshman of the Week award three times, and the WCC Setter of the Week award four times.
BIG NUMBERS FROM BEACH
• Junior outside hitter
Nemo Beach leads the WCC and ranks 29th nationally with 454 total kills in 2025. Her average of 4.02 kills per set ranks second in the WCC and 60th nationally.
EXPLOSIVE OFFENSE
• San Diego leads the WCC with a .268 team hitting percentage, 1,443 team kills, 1,349 team assists, and 1,886.5 total team points in 2025.
DOMINANT DEFENSE
• As a team, USD leads the WCC in digs (1,536) and ranks second in team total blocks (280.5) and opponent hitting percentage (.175).
ALL-TIME SERIES AGAINST GONZAGA
• The Toreros lead the all-time series, 65-9, and have won 59 consecutive matches against the Bulldogs dating back to 1994.
• USD has swept each of its last six matchups with GU dating back to 2022.
• San Diego last lost a set to Gonzaga on November 16, 2021 in a 3-1 USD win, and has not been defeated by the Bulldogs since September 30, 1994, when it suffered a 3-1 defeat in Spokane.
GOING THE DISTANCE
• San Diego has played five sets on 11 different occasions this season, and is 9-2 in such matches.
• Approximately 39 percent (11 of 28) of USD's matches so far in 2025 (entering Thursday) have gone five sets.
• However, only four WCC opponents have taken the Toreros to five this season: Loyola Marymount on September 27, Washington State on October 25, Saint Mary's Gaels on November 8, and Portland on November 15.
