RIVERSIDE – The trend of allowing early deficits continued for San Diego Softball in the second game on Saturday against California Baptist in the CBU Tournament.
USD allowed five runs in the first two innings, leading to a 7-1 loss against the Lancers.
Ultimately, all of California Baptist's runs came before the Toreros could get on the board.
The Toreros could not score until the seventh inning when junior catcher Shawnese Hogue-Lacy led off the inning by slugging a solo home run to center field for the team's only run against California Baptist.
TORERO TIDBITS
- Kaitlyn Bartlow went 5.2 innings, allowing eight hits, seven runs (five earned) and three walks.
- Michelle Delgado and Alyssa Hernandez each went 2-for-3 offensively.
- Hogue-Lacy not only recorded her first home run of the season, but also the first of her three-year career at USD.
