All three games will be streamed live on ESPN+ (video) and USDToreros.com (audio only) with Braden Surprenant on the call.
Live statistics will be available on USDToreros.com and StatBroadcast.
LAST TIME OUT
• AJ Anzai launched his first home run in a San Diego uniform on Tuesday evening to keep the Toreros within striking distance of Cal State Fullerton, but a three-run fifth inning from the Titans dealt USD a 6-2 loss at Goodwin Field.
• Four San Diego pitchers teamed up to throw three scoreless innings to end Tuesday's game.
Tristan LaMaison put together the Toreros' longest relief appearance, turning in 1.2 perfect frames with two strikeouts.
• Jack McWilliams needed only eight pitches to strike out the only two batters he faced in the eighth before giving way to
Jack Giordano, who ended the inning by getting the only Titan he faced to fly out to center field.
LAST WEEKEND
• USD won one of its three matchups at Loyola Marymount last weekend to begin West Coast Conference play.
• San Diego fell 9-4 in game one, prevailed 11-1 in an eight-inning run-rule victory in game two, and dropped a closely contested series finale by a score of 5-4 at Page Stadium.
• Austin Smith batted a team-high .429 (6-for-14) in the series, totaling four doubles, a grand slam, and eight RBIs.
SMITH'S STREAK
• Senior left-handed pitcher/designated hitter/outfielder
Austin Smith enters Friday night's action on a 15-game hit streak that dates back to March 1 and includes six multi-hit performances.
• He is 22-for-61 (.361) during this hit streak with nine doubles, one triple, one home run, and 15 RBIs.
• Current records indicate that it's the longest hit streak by a San Diego player since 2018, when Hunter Mercado-Hood hit safely in 18 consecutive contests. Research on historical Torero hit streaks prior to 2021 is ongoing.
• Smith's sixth-inning single on Tuesday at CSUF pushed him past Caleb Ricketts' 2022 streak, which spanned the final 14 games of the Toreros' season.
GUREVITCH STAYS HOT
• Junior infielder
Jack Gurevitch batted .364 (4-for-11) at Loyola Marymount last weekend, scoring four runs and driving in two more while drawing three walks.
• Gurevitch delivered a clutch two-out RBI single in the top of the ninth inning on Sunday afternoon at Page Stadium, cutting the Lions' lead to just one run as the Toreros tried to mount a late-game comeback.
• He leads USD with a .364 (32-for-88) batting average in 2025 and is pacing the team with four home runs, 16 RBIs, and 52 total bases. His 12 walks this season rank third on the San Diego roster.
• In January, Gurevitch was selected to the 2025 WCC Preseason Team and was named the 2025 Perfect Game WCC Preseason Player of the Year.
PATIENCE PAYS OFF
• Sophomore utility player
Nico Libed's 17 walks this season are the most of any Torero, and are tied for fourth in the WCC
• His three multi-RBI games in 2025 are tied for second-most on the USD roster.
A JACK OF ALL TRADES
• Libed has started 20 games this season at four different positions, including six at catcher, five at second base, eight in left field, and one as USD's designated hitter.
TRIPLE THREAT
• Seven different Toreros (
Isaiah Lane,
Jack Gurevitch,
Austin Smith,
Nico Libed,
Gabe D'Arcy,
Jayden Lobliner, and
Rex Watson) have notched a triple in 2025.
• Lane (two) is the only USD player (and just one of three players in the WCC) with more than one.
• San Diego's eight total triples through 24 games this season are the second-most in the WCC (LMU, nine), and are just one shy of the final tally of nine triples the Torero achieved across 56 games in 2024.
LIFE IN THE FAST LANE
• Sophomore shortstop
Isaiah Lane enters Friday night's action on a 10-game hit streak that dates back to March 4.
• During that span he's batting .400 (14-for-35) with 10 runs scored, six RBIs, a home run, 11 walks, and three stolen bases.
• Lane, who is hitting .324 (23-for-71) overall so far this season with three home runs and nine RBIs, has recorded seven multi-hit games in 2025 and has hit safely in 16 of his first 20 games as a Torero.
• On March 1, he launched two solo homers against Cal State Bakersfield at Fowler Park. His three multi-RBI games this season are tied with
Nico Libed for USD's team-high.
• A native of nearby Chula Vista, California and a graduate of Eastlake High School, Lane joined USD as a transfer after spending his freshman year at Oklahoma.
• Lane has not played since March 21 at LMU, when he exited the game in the top of the fourth inning.
OUCH!
• Freshman outfielder
Rex Watson has been hit by nine pitches across 22 games so far in 2025, which is the most of any Torero and the fourth-most HBPs among all WCC players.
RIDING THE WAVE(S)
•
Austin Smith has dominated across his six career games against Pepperdine, batting an even .400 (8-for-20) with five runs scored, two doubles, a go-ahead grand slam, seven RBIs, and six walks.
• He's taken the mound twice opposite Pepperdine and has had his way with the Waves both times, posting a 2-0 record, a save, and 11.2 scoreless innings across an eight-inning start (April 21, 2024 at Eddy D. Field Stadium) and a 3.2-inning relief appearance (April 1, 2023 at Fowler Park) that saw him end the game with five straight strikeouts.
ALL-TIME SERIES AGAINST PEPPERDINE
• The Toreros are 83-132 against the Waves all-time but have won 10 of their last 12 games against Pepperdine, including each of the last five matchups between the two teams.
• USD swept the Waves at Eddy D. Field Stadium in 2024, earning wins by scores of 11-5, 4-2, and 7-0 from April 19 to April 21.
• San Diego last hosted Pepperdine from March 31, 2023 to April 2, 2023, when it took two of three from the Waves at Fowler Park. The Toreros dropped game one by a 8-3 margin that weekend before rebounding for 8-4 and 7-6 victories.

• He recorded three saves in 56.2 total innings pitched (third most among USD players in 2024) while notching 49 strikeouts.
• Smith was one of two Toreros in 2024 to throw eight total innings in a single game without allowing a run (April 21 at Pepperdine).

• Reddemann (0-1, 2.13 ERA) last pitched on March 22 at Loyola Marymount, when he held the Lions to just one run on two hits across 4.1 innings while striking out four and walking none.
• He was named the WCC Pitcher of the Week for March 10, 2024 after throwing six shutout innings at No. 8 Oregon State on March 8. He scattered six hits in his outing against the Beavers, walked none, and struck out seven as he stranded six runners to keep the home team off the board.
• He threw five solid innings in his 2025 debut against No. 23 TCU at Fowler Park (February 15), striking out eight while giving up three earned runs on just three hits.

He earned First Team All-CIF Southern Selection honors in 2022 and 2023 and threw a perfect game during his senior season that included 11 strikeouts while going 3-for-4 at the plate with two doubles.
• Reddemann is a switch-hitting two-way player who can play middle infield and outfield and is an option as a pinch runner in addition to pitching.
• Despite his youth, Reddemann brings big-game experience to the Torero rotation, having started in two postseason games in 2024: one against Portland in the WCC Tournament Championship , and one against the Gauchos in a 2024 NCAA Santa Barbara Regional elimination game.Â
