Greetings Torero Friends:
With the recent conclusion of the academic calendar year, we now turn our focus to preparations for the 2025-26 Men's Basketball season. I want to take a moment to share an update regarding recent developments on the Toreros' recruiting front.
Our staff's objective was to reconstruct our roster by acquiring prospects who fit our preferred system of play. From proven backcourt leaders to versatile frontline players, the makeup of our roster reconstruction will allow us to implement a winning and fast-paced brand of San Diego Basketball.
The scoop on our transfer portal additions thus far:
Toneari Lane (6'5" G – Georgia State): A career double-digit scorer at 13.8 ppg last year, Toneari shot 35% from three with 90 made threes last season in addition to an 86% clip from the FT line. He started all 33 games for the Panthers and led the team in minutes.
Ty-Laur Johnson (6'0" G – Wake Forest): Starting in 19 ACC games last year, Ty-Laur was an 83% FT shooter, second on a talented Wake squad in steals and third in assists. He had notable performances against national No. 1 Duke. A highly-recruited 4-star prospect out of high school, he was named to the ACC All-Academic Team following his freshman season at Louisville.
Juanse Gorosito (6'1" G – Ball State): Starting 27 of 31 games at Ball State last season, Juanse shot 40.9% from three, and was second on the team in steals. He brings WCC experience, having played his first two seasons at Portland, and has averaged 68 made 3-pointers per season over his three years of college ball.

Tim Moore Jr. (6'6" F – NJIT): Tim started every game and averaged 12.9 ppg, 6.7 rpg last season, showing progressive improvement throughout the season. He shot 51% from the field, 36% from three, and 78% from the free throw line. He ranked top seven in his conference in FG%, FT%, and blocks. Nicknamed "The Rim Reaper," he also led the league with 43 dunks.
Dominique Ford (6'5" G – Southern Utah): Dominique started 24 of 25 games for his team last season, leading his squad in 3-pointers made and was second in overall scoring and assists. A career 33% shooter from deep, as a junior he averaged 16 ppg and started all 31 games after first breaking onto the scene in his first two years with Idaho.
Assane Diop (6'8" F – Colorado): Another 4-star recruit and the No. 2 player in Colorado from the class of 2023, AD was ranked 74th overall in ESPN's Top-100. He started half of Colorado's games in 2024-25, shooting 79% from the charity stripe. Originally from Dakar, Senegal, his remarkable life story is featured in BYUtv's "Assane Diop: A Seed in Foreign Soil."
It is noteworthy that this Torero team is shaping up to not only be an impressive group of basketball players, but also young men who will be exemplary representatives of our university in the community.
Stay tuned for an introduction to our four incoming freshmen, who we get to work with in our new basketball performance lab for the first time later this month.
Once again, we appreciate your unwavering support of Torero Basketball.
Respectfully,
