BERLIN — A balanced offensive attack helped San Diego volleyball sweep Team Mongolia early Monday morning, giving the Toreros a second consecutive win while representing the United States at the 2025 World University Games.
Team USA dominated through the first two frames, prevailing by 25-13 and 25-12 margins. The Mongolians put up more of a fight in set three, but eventually fell by a score of 25-20 as the Americans prevailed in straight sets at Ballsporthalle Köpenick.
Nemo Beach led the match with nine kills while hitting .294. She was followed by
Kennedy Osunsanmi, who had eight kills while hitting at a remarkable .800 clip, and Izzy Clark, who continued her string of success in Berlin by adding six kills and five digs.
Kylie Munday's 43 match-high 43 assists brought the offense together while also contributing a team-high eight digs.
Aided by three solo blocks from
Maya Kitna and two apiece from Osunsanmi and Beach, the Americans out-blocked their opponents 10-3.
Team USA is back in action on Tuesday (July 22), when it takes on Team Spain at 11 AM PST at Sportforum Große Halle to continue the Women's Placing 9-16 round.
From July 16-27, 2025, San Diego volleyball will join around 8,500 other student-athletes and officials from over 150 countries in competing for medals in 18 sports at the World University Games, one of the largest multi-sport events in the world. The Toreros will be representing the USA as the nation's only women's volleyball team in the Games.Â
