SAN BRUNO, Calif. — Another two road sweeps over the weekend helped San Diego volleyball earn another two weekly awards, with
Lauren Lynch and
Emma Brewer earning WCC Defensive Player and Freshman of the Week honors for October 26, 2026. The West Coast Conference made the announcement on Monday afternoon.
Lynch and Brewer's recognition give San Diego a second consecutive week with multiple players recognized by the league after
Meghan Scholz and
Kylie Munday were named the WCC Defensive Player and Setter of the Week on October 19, 2026. In total, the Toreros have received seven WCC weekly awards so far in 2026, the second-most in the conference behind only Santa Clara (eight).
Lynch, a sophomore libero from Burbank, California, turned in match highs of 19 digs at Pacific on Thursday and 16 at Saint Mary's on Saturday. She finished San Diego's two road sweeps with 35 digs, an average of 5.83 per set. Lynch was also error-free on all 22 of her serve receptions, passing 13-for-13 at Pacific and 9-for-9 at Saint Mary's, and added five assists and an ace. She averaged 6.33 digs per set at Pacific, where she served six straight points for a 7-0 first-set lead and also served the set's final three points. At Saint Mary's, she served three straight points in the second set, the last of them an ace, to make it 18-7. This is Lynch's second career weekly conference award after also being named WCC Defensive Player of the Week on October 5. She is the second Torero to earn the league's weekly Defensive honor in 2026, joining Scholz, who won it last week.
Brewer, a first-year outside hitter from Salem, Oregon, led San Diego with 25 kills and 27.5 points this week as the Toreros swept Pacific and Saint Mary's on the road. She hit .345 (25-6-55), averaged 4.17 kills per set and added a solo block and three block assists. At Pacific on Thursday, Brewer had 10 kills and three block assists for 11.5 points. Six of those kills came in the third set, three of them in a four-rally stretch that made it 22-12. At Saint Mary's on Saturday, she led all players with 15 kills and 16.0 points, hitting .414 (15-3-29) with a solo block. She had six kills in the first set and kills on two of San Diego's final three points, the second bringing up match point at 24-17. This is Brewer's second career weekly conference honor after also earning the league's Freshman nod on September 21. She is the only Torero to have been named WCC Freshman of the Week thus far this season.
Lynch, Brewer, and the rest of the Toreros are back at home this weekend to continue WCC play against San Francisco and Santa Clara at the Jenny Craig Pavilion. First serve opposite the Dons on Thursday night is set for 7:00 p.m. Tickets for both matchups are
on sale now.
