Humphreys' Career-Low 63 Ties for Best Round in Dallas

Reed Arnaldo, one of eight players to break par in all three rounds, ties for 12th to lead USD at Trinity Forest Invitational

DALLAS — Cooper Humphreys fired a career-low 9-under 63 on Tuesday, sharing the best round of the Trinity Forest Invitational as the University of San Diego men's golf team closed with its lowest score of the tournament at Trinity Forest Golf Club.

The junior entered the final round tied for 62nd after a second-round 79 and finished tied for 16th at 4-under 212 (70-79-63). His 46-spot climb was the largest in the 90-player field, and Chattanooga's Evan Rogers, the individual champion, was the only other golfer to card a 63.

It was the third straight event in which Humphreys posted his low round on the final day, following closing 66s at the Vuori Invitational and the Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational.

The Toreros' 7-under 281 was the sixth-best team round on Tuesday and moved them up one spot to 12th in the 17-team field at 3-over 867 (287-299-281). USD opened with a 1-under 287 to sit in a tie for seventh before an 11-over 299 in the second round dropped it into a tie for 13th.

Sophomore Reed Arnaldo led the Toreros in a tie for 12th at 5-under 211 (71-71-69) and was one of eight players in the field to break par in all three rounds. His 1-under 71 was USD's only under-par score of the second round. Arnaldo has now finished in the top 15 in back-to-back events after tying for 11th in Boulder.

Senior You Seong Choi tied for 67th at 7-over 223 (72-75-76), and junior Brady Clark, who had all three of his rounds count toward the team score, tied for 72nd at 8-over 224 (74-76-74). Sophomore Reid Piron tied for 80th at 11-over 227 (75-77-75).

East Tennessee State erased a five-stroke deficit in the final round to win the team title at 32-under 832, three strokes ahead of Southern California. Rogers finished at 16-under 200 (68-69-63), four shots clear of USC's Deitrek Gill.
