SAN DIEGO — After a thrilling come-from-behind win over Seattle U last week, San Diego women's basketball (9-17, 3-10 WCC) is set to wrap up a three-game homestand this Thursday night as it hosts the Bulldogs (18-7, 10-2 WCC) at 6:00 p.m at the Jenny Craig Pavilion.

ALL-TIME SERIES AGAINST GONZAGA
• The Toreros are 23-55 against the Bulldogs all-time. This will be the second match-up between the teams this season.

• USD and Gonzaga most recently met on January 17, 2026  when the Bulldogs defeated the Toreros by an 87-42 margin at the McCarthy Athletic Center.

LAST TIME OUT: TOREROS BATTLE AT HOME, SPLIT WEEKEND IN THE JCP
• The Toreros welcomed Washington State and Seattle U to the JCP last week, battling through a pair of competitive matchups. USD narrowly came up short in a hard-fought, back-and-forth contest against Washington State, falling just four points shy in a tight 80-76 decision on Thursday, February 5. The Toreros quickly rebounded with a thrilling 71–54 comeback victory over Seattle U on Saturday, February 7.

• Freshman Olivia Owens delivered standout performances in both matchups, recording double-doubles in each contest as she erupted for a career-high 31 points against Washington State. Sophomore Eva Ruse added another impressive showing in the Seattle U matchup, notching a dominant double-double with career highs of 20 points and 18 rebounds.

OLIVIA OWENS NAMED WCC FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
• First-year San Diego guard Olivia Owens has been named the WCC Freshman of the Week for February 9, 2026, the West Coast Conference announced on Monday.  Owens averaged 25.5 points, 12.5 rebounds and 6.5 assists per game in San Diego's two games last week. Against Washington State Thursday, Owens scored a career-high 31 points to go along with 11 rebounds and six assists. She finished 10-for-20 (.500) from the floor and 4-for-7 from three-point range (.571) in the contest. The scoring total was tied for the eighth-most in a game in program history. It was the fifth 30-point performance by a West Coast Conference player in a game this season. She is one of just two conference players to record a double-double with at least 30 points in a game this season (Lauren Whittaker of Gonzaga had 37 points and 14 rebounds in an overtime defeat to Oregon State Jan. 22). Owens followed that performance with a 20-point, 13-rebound, seven-assist effort in Saturday's win over Seattle U to give her a pair of double-doubles for the week. She has recorded three double-doubles overall this season. Owens' honor is her first conference weekly recognition.
