Toreros Open 2026 With Scoreless Draw Against CSUF

Chloe Walls turns aside a penalty kick and finishes with four saves in the season opener

SAN DIEGO — Chloe Walls stopped a penalty kick late in the first half and finished with four saves as the University of San Diego women's soccer team opened the 2026 season with a 0-0 draw against Cal State Fullerton on Wednesday night at Torero Stadium.

The result extended the Toreros' non-conference unbeaten streak to 11 matches. Both teams moved to 0-0-1.

San Diego carried the run of play early, holding 57 percent of the possession and outshooting the Titans 5-3 before the break. Mia Teran accounted for three of those attempts, and Lily Johnson drew the only save Cal State Fullerton goalkeeper Allison Craycroft had to make, forcing a stop in the 30th minute.

Walls' biggest moment came in the 41st. Awarded a penalty, Cal State Fullerton sent Sail Bozinovic to the spot, and Walls pushed the attempt away to keep the match level at halftime. It was her second save of the half — she had also denied Bozinovic from open play 10 minutes earlier.

The Titans tilted the field after the interval, taking eight of their 11 shots in the second half and earning four of their five corner kicks. Walls answered with a save on Sasha Amezcua in the 68th minute and another on Riley OBrien in the 86th, while the Torero back line blocked three more attempts. Cal State Fullerton did not put a shot past Walls in 90 minutes.

Amanda Anders had San Diego's final two looks inside the last five minutes, one blocked in front of goal and one sent over the bar.

Seventeen Toreros saw the field in the opener, including six off the bench.
