Played in 22 matches, and a total of 53 sets as a serving specialist and back row player for the Toreros...recorded five service aces, five kills and 10 total digs... helped lead USD to the best season in program history, as USD defeated No. 1 USC, then moved up to No. 2 in the national polls, marking highest ranking for any team in USD division I history...she helped lead USD to the WCC championship...helped lead USD into the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament.

Prepped at Santa Margarita Catholic High School...as a senior, she recorded 387 kills, 25 aces, 121 digs and 13 blocks en route to a first-team All-Trinity League selection, and a second-team All-Orange County distinction...moved past 1,000 career kills in her senior season...as a junior, recorded 450 kills, had 11 aces, 83 digs, and 16 blocks en route to a first-team All-Trinity League selection, and a second-team All-Orange County distinction...as a junior she was tabbed the Trinity League MVP...as a sophomore, she recorded 184 kills, had nine aces, 36 digs and 11 blocks en route to a first-team All-Trinity League selection. Played club volleyball for the Tstreet volleyball club.

Sofia Veronica Martinez-Lavin was born on Oct. 2, 1995 in Mission Viejo, Calif....she is the daughter of Rodolfo Martinez and Esther Lavin...chose to attend USD because of the beautiful campus and campus community...notes she is a first generation American in her family, and she has dual citizenship in both the United States and Spain.
