JUNIOR (2005)
Named Most Valuable Player in UC Berkeley[apos]s Golden Bear Invite and the USD Invitational...had a team-leading 79 kills and team-best 5.64 kills per game at the USD Invitational...named WCC Player of the Week for the Week (9-19)...named WCC Player of the Month for September...led the conference in kills per game with 5.19 and was ranked ninth nationally among all Division I players in that same category during September...had six double doubles (kills-digs) and six matches with 20 or more kills in September alone...recorded 22 kills and 10 digs against American (9-17)...hit a .808 attack percentage during that match, the second best single-game hitting performance in program history...posted over 30 kills twice, first versus Arkansas (34 kills) and a season-high 35 kills against Loyola Marymount (10-01)... Was putting up 5.36 kills per game until she suffered a season ending injury against Santa Clara (10-15)... Posted nine total double doubles on the season.

SOPHOMORE (2004)
Key part of San Diego[apos]s undefeated WCC Championship season in which USD advanced into the NCAA Tournament[apos]s Sweet 16 for the first time in program history... Began the season by posting 10 or more kills in each of her first four matches as a Torero, including putting down 17 kills and totaling a season-high 16 digs against top-ranked Hawaii (9-3) in USD[apos]s season-opener... Had 10 kills during San Diego[apos]s sweep over No. 17 Arizona (9-4) in Hawaii... Injury significantly limited her playing time in October and early November... Returned to help USD complete a string of 16 consecutive victories to close out the regular season... Was outstanding in San Diego[apos]s three NCAA Tournament matches, killing a season-high 23 to help the Toreros sweep New Mexico State (12-3)... Had 14 digs and added 13 kills in USD[apos]s thrilling five-game victory over Arizona (12-4) to advance into the NCAA[apos]s Sweet 16... Finished the year ranked second on the team in kills per game (3.24).

FRESHMAN at Washington State (2003)
Transferred to USD after playing for Washington State as a redshirt freshman in 2003... Was selected to the six-player Pac-10 All-Freshman First Team... Finished second on the team in both kills (329) and digs (293)... Named to Cougar Challenge and Cougar Mania All-Tournament teams... Ranked among the league[apos]s statistical leaders during conference play.

Prep/Club
Highly decorated student-athlete who earned six letters at Loudoun Valley High, three each in volleyball and basketball playing both sports for coach Carmel Keilty... Helped Loudoun Valley amass a three-year record of 93-2 en route to winning state championships as both a junior and senior... At one point the team had a 39-match win streak...Named player of the year for district, region, state and all-extra levels...Also selected Washington Post All-Metropolitan Volleyball Player of the Year for all high schools in area encompassing District of Columbia, Maryland, Delaware and Virginia...Set school records in career kills (655), single season kills (355), kills per match (19), digs in a season (323) and digs per match (20)... ...Selected outstanding female senior athlete...Asics Metro Va 18 Blue club team finished second at the 2002 East Coast Championship for 18 open gold.

Full name is Kristen Mary Carlson... Born June 24, 1984, in Phoenix, Arizona... Father Joseph was a rower at UCLA, mother Donnalee (Wennerstrom) swam for UCLA and competed at the 1976 summer Olympics... Has four brothers and two sisters... Was named a McDonalds All-American Nominee as a prep basketball player... In the summer of 2003, Carlson was voted one of the Top 10 Greatest Athletes in the history of Loudoun County and therefore one of the original inductees to the Loudoun County Hall of Fame as selected by the Loudoun Times-Mirror.
