Lance Friesz, USD's outstanding freshman goalie from Laguna Nigel, CA (Dana Hills HS), was named this week's West Coast Conference men's soccer player of the week for his stellar performances in USD's three shutout victories. Lance tallied three shutouts as USD's keeper with wins over Alliant (2-0), Saint Mary's (1-0) and San Francisco (3-0). He totaled 12 saves on the week - Alliant (3 saves), Saint Mary's (4 saves) and San Francisco (5 saves). He now has four straight shutouts in goal for the Toreros and nine on the season with the Toreros 8-0-1 during that span. He improved his goals-against average to 0.35. As a team USD (10-2-2) has now won nine straight matches, something they last accomplished during their 19-5 campaign in 1992. This Friday, October 24th, the Toreros will put their 2-0 WCC mark on the line at home against the Loyola Marymount Lions in a 7:00 p.m. contest.
