SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The Sacramento State Hornets (21-17; 4-4 PCSC) handed San Diego (15-15; 5-3 PCSC) a pair of losses on Sunday afternoon to finish their four-game weekend series. Sacramento's Brianne Ferguson earned victories in both games, allowing just four hits and one run over 12 innings of work. Ashlee Nunes and Kathleen Bonja each collected two hits for the Toreros.

The first game on the day started as a pitcher's dual, with Erin Harmonson and Brianne Ferguson each carrying a shutout into the fourth. The Hornets were able break the scoreless tie in the top of the fourth when Gloria Toledo hit a solo home run over the left field fence. Sacramento scored the only other run of the game in the fifth, as the Toreros were only able to collect two hits in the 2-0 loss.

In Game Two, USD found themselves behind early as the Hornets scored two runs in the top of the first. The Toreros cut the lead to one in the fourth when Bonja hit an RBI single, scoring Nunes but Sacramento State would answer with a four-run sixth inning to taking a commanding 6-1 lead. Nunes collected two of San Diego's three hits in the game, finishing 2-for-3 with a run scored.

The Toreros will look to bounce back next weekend as they host Portland State for a four-game PCSC series. Saturday and Sunday doubleheaders are set to begin at 12 noon at the USD Softball Complex.
