Toreros Compete In UC Irvine Shootout Swim Meet

IRVINE, Calif. - The University of San Diego swimming and diving team participated in the annual UC Irvine Shootout this past weekend. At the two-day event, the Toreros tallied 13 top ten finishes, and 15 finishes in the top-15.

Freshman diver Monica Oddo led the charge for USD with the a second place finish and 232.30 points in the 1m dive competition, and a fifth place finish in the 3m dive event with 222.40 points. Teammate Courtney Weigand finished in fourth place on the swimming side of the competition in the 1650m freestyle with a time of 17:49.41.

Veteran Joy Miller posted a seventh place mark of 2:11.42 in the 200 butterfly on day two. Erin Voyles captured eighth place in her 200 freestyle event with a time of 1:57.45. The Toreros finished in 7th place in the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:46.02.

The Toreros lost in head-to-head competition over the weekend but were optimistic about their individual results throughout the meet. USD returns to the water on November 15 for the always competitive three-day Speedo Cup event in Long Beach, California.
