Wilson, Diehl, Smith Highlight USD's Effort at 2026 CSCAA National Invitational Championship

The Toreros totaled 77 points over three days of competition at the FAST Aquatics Center in Ocala, Florida

OCALA, Fla. – The University of San Diego women's swimming team closed out its 2025-2026 season at the 2026 CSCAA National Invitational Championship on Saturday, earning 77 team points to finish 36th in the women's standings. The three-day meet ran March 12–14 at FAST Aquatics Center.

Sydney Wilson led the way for the Toreros with three individual performances across the distance freestyle events. The sophomore entered the meet as the 27th seed in the 500 freestyle and finished with a time of 4:57.69 in the prelims. She carried that form into Saturday's distance finals, placing 17th in the 1,000 freestyle (10:10.72) and 12th in the 1,650 freestyle (16:48.31).

Skylar Bruner posted the Toreros' strongest individual finish by placing ninth in the 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 10:04.28. 

Haley Borja put together yet another historic performance in the 100 yard backstroke, breaking the school record for a second time with a time of 55:51.

Alison Diehl earned a B Final berth in the 200 freestyle after posting a 1:49.70 in prelims to qualify 16th. In the final, she improved to 1:48.63 for 11th place overall — the top individual finish at the meet outside of the distance events.

Wilson also advanced to a final, qualifying 14th in the 400 individual medley with a 4:22.35. She touched in 4:20.07 in the B Final to place 14th overall in the event.

Skylar Bruner placed ninth in the 1,000 freestyle with a 10:04.28 and added a 37th-place effort of 17:25.33 in the 1,650 freestyle. Borja competed in both backstroke sprints, logging a 25.87 in the 50-yard back prelims and a 55.51 in the 100 back.

On the relay side, the 400 freestyle relay team of Mallory Paine, Milan Bever, Borja and Diehl finished 26th in 3:25.32. The 800 freestyle relay quartet of Diehl, Paine, Smith and Bruner touched in 7:31.85 for 24th place.

Kentucky captured the women's team title with 553 points, followed by Rice (500.5) and Ohio State (496).
