SAN ANTONIO, Tex. - The University of San Diego women's swimming and diving team wrapped up the final day of competition at the 2008 Western Athletic Conference Championship swim meet Saturday afternoon at the Palo Alto College Natatorium.
USD's Sarah Gleason started off strong for USD finishing in 6th place overall in the 1650 yard freestyle in a time of 17:26.99. Katie Kiefer swam to a 23rd place finish with a time of 17:57.46 while Taryn Vangerpen finished in 18:07.42.
In the 200 yard backstroke, San Diego's Kristin Yoon finished in fifth place overall with a time of 2:05.02 followed by teammate Samantha Jafari with a time of 2:12.37.
The 200 yard breaststroke followed as USD's Haley Pittman finished with a time of 2:25.83 for 15th place overall.
In the 200 yard butterfly, Joy Miller earned a 3rd place finish in the meet with a 2:03.71, while teammate Rachel McKay added a 23rd place finish with a 2:19.03 time.
In the platform diving competition, USD's Amy Bogart finished the preliminaries in 11th place with a score of 165.35. Her teammate Addy Bednarski scored a 119.55 for 12th place.
In the final race of the four day competition, USD finished the 400 yard freestyle relay in 6th place overall.
The Toreros finished in 8th place with 241 points overall. They await the announcements of All-WAC and All-Academic which will take place in the next two months.
