Toreros Split Day Two at Diamond Devil Classic

TEMPE, Ariz. - The University of San Diego softball team finished day two with a split at the Diamond Devil Classic in Tempe, Arizona on Saturday. The Toreros finished the day with a 3-4 loss in the morning game followed by an 8-4 win over Utah.

Against the Aggies, Davis jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. They tacked on another run in the third inning for a 4-0 lead. San Diego fought to comeback starting with one run in the fifth inning followed by a two run seventh inning, however the Toreros were unable to push across the tying run.

In the afternoon game, Utah jumps out to a four run lead after three innings. Utah cut the lead to three with one run in the fourth inning. San Diego posted one run to the fifth and three runs in the sixth increasing USD's lead 8-1. Utah attempted a rally in the sixth inning but was unsuccessful as San Diego won 8-4. With the win, San Diego improves to 9-14 overall.

San Diego will finish up the weekend tournament on Sunday when they face tournament host Arizona State 1:00 p.m.
