SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The University of San Diego softball team posted back-to-back losses Sunday afternoon at the USD Softball Complex losing 1-0 in ten innings in game one and 1-0 in game two as well. The Toreros fall to 14-29 overall and 1-7 in the PCSC. LMU improves to 29-15 overall and even up at 4-4 in the PCSC.
In game one, The Lions and Toreros went scoreless through ten innings. Pitcher Jennifer Ellenbeck went the distance facing 36 batters striking out one and walking two in the pitcher's duel. In the bottom half of the tenth with LMU at bat, San Diego gave up four hits and the game winning run as the Lions defeated the Toreros 1-0.
In game two, LMU jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first inning. The Lions offense battled as they posted seven hits in the game to USD's two hits. San Diego had runner in scoring position only one time in the third inning but were unable to push across the run.
San Diego returns for the battle of the city championship against San Diego State on Wednesday, April 16 at 6:00 p.m. at the USD Softball Complex. The series is currently tied at 1-1. Admission to Wednesday night's game is $5.
