Final Stats
PORTLAND, Ore. - The University of San Diego softball team wrapped up day one of their first Pacific Coast Softball Conference doubleheader with a two-game loss to the Portland State Vikings. The Toreros dropped game one by a score of 4-7 followed by a second loss in game two by a score of 5-6.
In game one, USD jumped out to a fast two run lead. Portland State cut the lead 2-1 in the bottom half of the inning. Portland tied the game with their second run in the fourth inning. San Diego recaptured the lead adding two runs taking a 4-2 lead in the fifth inning. It was in the sixth inning that Portland State's offense took a five run lead over USD and taking the win over the Toreros 7-4.
In game two, San Diego fell behind in the bottom half of the inning 3-0. Portland State added another run in the third inning to take a 4-0 lead. San Diego scored a single run in the fourth inning and followed with a four run lead fifth to take the lead 5-4. The Vikings fought in the bottom half of the inning tying the game at 5-5 only pick up the win in the bottom of the seventh inning when the Vikings pushing across the winning run.
San Diego falls to 13-24 overall with the losses and 0-2 in the PCSC. The Toreros return to Erv Lind Stadium Sunday afternoon for their final doubleheader starting at Noon in Portland, Oregon.
