PORTLAND, Ore. - The University of San Diego completed their first conference series against Portland State with a pair of losses as the Vikings swept the Toreros by a score of 1-9 in game one and 5-8 in game two.
In game one, USD fell behind 9-1 after the first inning. USD was unable to score while Portland State held on defensively as the Toreros were run-ruled in five innings.
In game two, USD took a 1-0 lead over Portland State in the first inning. The Vikings responded by tying the game in the second inning. Portland State then posted six runs in the third inning to take a 7-0 lead. San Diego battled back scoring two runs in both the third and fifth inning. However it wasn't enough as USD fell 5-8 on the final game.
The Toreros return home for back-to-back conference homestands starting with a doubleheader against Loyola Marymount on April 12 at noon from the USD Softball Conference.
