LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The 25th-ranked University of San Diego women's soccer team dropped a 4-0 decision to USC Friday afternoon in a non-conference match at McAlister Field.
The Trojans (8-3-0) scored the only goal they would need in the 35th minute of action, as Alyssa Davila touched a pass to Ashley Freyer, who was able to sneak one past the USD goalkeeper to give USC a 1-0 lead.
The Toreros (6-4-1) had several good chances not go their way in the first half, as in the 20th minute of action, Christine Mock had a good look at the net and rocketed off a laser strike, only to the Trojan goalkeeper make the save.
USD dominated time of possession in the second half despite not coming away with a goal. In the 65th minute of action, the Toreros had another great scoring opportunity not go their way. Stephanie Ochs crossed the ball into a crowded goal box, where Natalie Garcia hit a one-timer on target, but the USC `keeper got her hands on the ball and punched it away from the goal box to record another save.
USC then doubled their lead in the 75th minute of action, as Carly Batcher controlled a cross from Marihelen Tomer and rocketed the ball into the back of the net to give USC a 2-0 lead.
The final two goals came in the 80th minute and in the 87th minute of action to put the match at its final of 4-0.
USC out shot USD 12-10 and held a 5-7 advantage in corner kicks.
Courtney Parsons was saddled with the loss in goal for the Toreros as she allowed four goals and recorded four saves. Kristen Olsen was credited with the win for the Trojans as she allowed no goals and recorded three saves.
San Diego will return to action on Wednesday when they head to Long Beach to take on Long Beach State University in a 3 p.m. match. This will conclude their six-match road swing.
