LONG BEACH, Calif. - The University of San Diego swim team finished in 12th place on the final day of the Toshiba Classic. The Toreros have four top-25 finishes on the final day, two of which were top-10 finishes in the six events.
The Toreros started off the day with their best finish as senior Sarah Gleason finished with a seventh place time of 16:53.51. Teammate Melissa Andruzzi tallied a 21st place finish in 17:29.85.
Senior Kristen Yoon finished in 44th place, a team high in the 200 yard backstroke, in a time of 2:08.34. Teammate Suzanne Crimmin finished right behind in 46th place with a time of 2:08.79.
Sophomore Sarah Geerdes lifted the Toreros back up with a top-20 finish in the 100 freestyle finishing in 17th place in 51.15. She had a preliminary time of 51.61 to get her to the finals.
San Diego rounded out the afternoon with a top-10 finish in the 400 Freestyle relay final. San Diego's "A" squad (Sarah Geerdes, Jacquilyn Kimmel, Melissa Andruzzi, Francesca Finucane) finished in 8th place overall in 3:28.96. The "B" squad (Kristen Yoon, Kristina Levesque, Suzanne Crimmin, Sarah Gleason) finished in 35th place in 3:35.01.
The Toreros will travel to the U.S. Short Course Nationals in Federal Way, Washington, a three day event from December 3-5.
