Final Stats
SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The University of San Diego swimming and diving team attended a five-way meet at crosstown rival San Diego State. The Toreros only scored against Texas Christian University. The Toreros fell 187-113 in the head-to-head scoring against TCU.
The Toreros started off well with a second place finish in the opening 200 Medley Relay event. Kristyn Deckard, Melissa Andruzzi, Sarah Geerdes, and Kristina Levesque beat out the competition with 1:46.80. In the1000 freestyle race, Sarah Gleason finished a team high 7th place for USD in 10:33.26. Freshman Francesca Finucane took 6th place in the 200 Freestyle for the Toreros.
San Diego battled TCU for the lead with help from Finucane again who took first place in the 50 Freestyle even with a time of 24.40. Freshman Kristyn Deckard fought back in the 100 Backstroke event earning 3rd place overall with a 58.94 followed by a third place finish by teammate Melissa Andruzzi in the 100 Breaststroke event in a time of 1:06.37.
Finucane also finished 3rd in the 100 freestyle with a time of 52.89 along with teammate Sarah Geerdes earning 4th in 52.18.
Rounding out the top times in the swimming portion of the meet was Deckard with a 6th place finish (2:10.26) in the 200 Backstroke, Andruzzi with a 7th place finish (2:26.41) in the 200 Breaststroke, and Andruzzi again in the 200 IM taking 5th place (2:10.78).
The 400 Freestyle Relay was the final race of the afternoon as the USD A relay squad finished in 4th place (Geerdes, Kimmel, Gleason, Levesque) with a time of 3:37.94.
On the diving side, Addy Bednarski finished 3rd on the 1 meter board with a 199.90 followed by Amy Bogart in 6th with a 182.85. The two divers flipped finish order in the 3 meter board results with Bogart taking 3rd with a 199.05 and Bednarski taking 4th with a 194.00.
The Toreros return to the comforts of home at the USD Swim Complex on Saturday, November 7 to face the Idaho Vandals in a 12:00 p.m. meet at USD.
