SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The University of San Diego softball team wrapped up the final day of the USD Invitational with a 2-1 loss to Boise State University. The Toreros battled through to the end but were unable to tie up the game to send it to extra innings.
Boise State scored first during the second inning of the game taking a 1-0 lead. The Toreros responded in the fifth inning as Lindsey Fleet singled to left field and was replaced by Taylor Lawrence to pinch run. Keely Helbock sacrificed bunted to the pitcher moving Lawrence to second base. Kaslin Tucker singled which allowed Lawrence to make a break for home to tie up the game at 1-1.
Boise State scored again in the sixth inning to take the lead away from the Toreros and go on to win 2-1.
The Toreros fall to 1-8 on the season as they prepare to face crosstown rival San Diego State at the Aztec Softball Complex on Wednesday, February 25 at 6:00 p.m.
