Final Stats
SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The University of San Diego softball team recorded a split on day two of the San Diego Classic I winning their opening game 3-2 against the University of Utah followed by a 5-0 loss to the UC Davis Aggies.
Utah recorded a single run in the first inning to take a 1-0 lead. San Diego responded in the bottom half of the inning as they regained the lead 2-1. With one out, Carey Casciola walked and then stole second base. Celeste Soto doubled through the left side scoring Casciola. Lindsey Fleet beat out a throw on a single to short stop allowing Soto to score for the lead. USD scored their final run of the game in the sixth inning with Kristen Gensler on third base and Megan Walsh on first base, Alyssa Schott singled through the right side to scoring Gensler.
In game two, San Diego fell 5-0 to the UC Davis Aggies. The Aggies scored three runs in the third inning. They added one run in the fifth inning and another run in the sixth inning.
The split puts the Toreros at 3-10 overall. USD will return for the final day of the San Diego Classic I with Military Appreciation day honoring the armed forces.
