SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The University of San Diego softball team traveled to UC Santa Barbara to take on the Gauchos at the Campus Diamond. The Toreros faced UCSB for the first time since 2004. The Gauchos defeated USD 2-0 in game one and 8-0 in game two.

In game one, the Toreros had runners on second base and third base in the second inning but were unable to push across a run. The Gauchos scored in the second inning to take a 1-0 lead. UCSB scored their second run in the fourth inning to take a 2-0 lead. USD had runners in scoring position again in the fifth and sixth inning but were unable to cross home plate.

In game two, San Diego was dealt an 8-0 loss by UCSB. The Gauchos' scored two runs in the first inning, one run in the third inning, two runs in the fourth, two runs in the fifth inning, and one run in the sixth inning.

USD returns home to prepare for the San Diego Classic II co-hosted with San Diego State. USD will face University of Connecticut on Thursday at 7pm at the USD Softball Complex to open the tournament.
