SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The University of San Diego softball team fell 2-0 and 6-2 in a Pacific Coast Softball Conference doubleheader against the Gaels of Saint Mary's College Saturday afternoon at the USD Softball Complex. The Toreros fall to 19-33 overall and 9-9 in conference play while the Gaels improve to 25-26 overall and 9-9 in the PCSC.

In game two, Saint Mary's jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead scoring one run in the first and second innings. The Toreros would respond in the bottom of the second inning when Celeste Soto would triple to centerfield and eventually score cutting the Saint Mary's lead 2-1. Soto's lead-off triple put her in scoring position. Hensley grounded out to the shortstop and Keenan would ground out to second base which allowed Soto to score. Kaslin Tucker took base-on-balls followed by Schott ending the inning on a fly-out. The Gael's would put up four runs in the fourth inning as they pulled away 6-1 over the Toreros. San Diego started a comeback in the bottom of the seventh inning. Hensley lead off with a single up the middle and would score on a Taryn Keenan RBI-double to centerfield cutting the lead 6-2. Tucker grounded out to third base, Walsh would ground out to first base, and Wineinger would pop out to short stop to end the game.

The Toreros are currently in a three-way tie for third place at 9-9 with Loyola Marymount and Saint Mary's. Portland State still controls first place in the PCSC after a two game sweep of LMU improving to 14-4 followed by Sacramento State in second place at 12-6. Santa Clara rounds out the conference standings in sixth place at 1-17.
