SAN DIEGO, Calif. - For the first time since 2005, the Toreros will face the Aztecs of San Diego State at the SDSU Sports Deck on Sunday, Sept. 6 at 1:00 p.m. The Toreros are coming off of a solid 2-0 victory over Cal-State Northridge earlier in the week and are ready to take on their crosstown rival.
On Tuesday, San Diego freshman Dan Delgado broke the scoreless tie against Northrdige in the second half with the assist going to JT Howlan and Trevor May. The Toreros scored again after taking a 1-0 lead when senior Kyle Ochoa put in a shot for the 2-0 win with the assist going to freshman Dan Delgado.
The Toreros own a 4-10-2 record against the Aztecs with their four victories occurring in the last five meetings between the two teams. USD outscored the Aztecs 12-3 with a 4-1 record dating back to 2000. USD last opened a campaign with a shut out in 2006 and went on to win seven of their first eight matches.
