LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The University of San Diego women's diving team competed at the UCLA Bruin Diving Invitational over the weekend in Los Angeles. The Toreros were among tough competition and had solid results over the two day event.
In the 1 meter preliminary event, Monica Oddo lead the team with a 196.40 score for 11th place making the cut to advance to the finals. Teammates Heather Hippensteel (191.90, 14th place), Addy Bednarski (184.70, 15th place), Amy Bogart (165.55, 16th place), and Bridget Schrier (127.00, 19th place) all competed well in the preliminary round. Oddo finished in 9th place overall in the finals with a 229.85 score.
In the 3 meter preliminary event, Oddo again lead the team with a 233.60 opening round score capturing 10th place and advancing to the finals. Hippensteel was right behind her taking 11th place and advancing to the finals as well with a 229.05 score. Bogart (204.40, 18th place), Bednarski (193.55, 19th place), and Schrier (141.10, 23rd place) all competed well but did not advance to the finals. Oddo would record an 11th place finish in the finals with a 228.85 and Hippensteel took 12th place with a 205.95.
The USD diving team returns home as they prepare for the Beach Cup in Los Angeles on January 23.
