LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The University of San Diego women's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to No. 11 UCLA Friday evening in a non-conference match at Drake Stadium.
The Bruins (6-2-1) scored in the 77th minute of action, as Lauren Barns took a free kick and was able to slip it past the Torero defense to give UCLA a 1-0 advantage.
The Bruins then scored its second goal in the 87th minute of action, as Chelsea Brown scored off a cross from Dana Long to give UCLA a 2-0 lead.
The Toreros (5-3-2) had one of its best scoring opportunities come in the 33rd minute of action, as off a free kick, Addie Cartan put the ball into a crowded goalbox, where Elissa Magracia rose up over all players and headed the ball, but it went just a bit high, preserving the scoreless first half.
The Toreros offense continued to attack in the second half, as Brooke Hickerson had a good look at the net and rocketed off a shot that the UCLA goalkeeper was just able to get her hands on to prevent the goal.
The Bruins outshot the Toreros 14-8 and held a 8-3 advantage in corner kicks.
Courtney Parsons was saddled with the loss in goal for the Toreros as she allowed two goals and recorded five saves. Her counterpart, Chante Sandiford was credited with the win in goal for the Bruins as she allowed no goals and recorded four saves.
The Toreros will return to action on Monday as they head to Northridge to take on the Matadors of Cal State Northridge in a 3 p.m. non-conference match.
