Toreros Fall to UC San Diego, 3-0

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The University of San Diego Toreros fell 3-0 to crosstown rival UC San Diego on Wednesday afternoon at the USD Softball Complex.

The Toreros fall to 1-2 on the season while the Tritons improve to 12-2 on the season.

San Diego fell behind 1-0 in the first inning as the Triton pushed across a run by a Torero error when Celeste Soto attempted a double play and sent a bad throw into right field. The error allowed a Triton run to get across.

The Tritons scored two more runs in the seventh inning as they took a 3-0 lead over the Toreros. USD's Kaitlin Healy went 6.2 innings before being relieved by teammate Cassidy Coleman. UCSD was able to get across two runs on three hits including an RBI-triple.

The Toreros had five hits on the day. Kaitling Healy had two strikeouts from the circle.

USD has two days to prepare for a four-game weekend series with PCSC Mountain Division opponent Seattle University. The Redhawks hold an 0-10 record and will face USD on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. followed by a doubleheader Sunday at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. at the USD Softball Complex.
