Box Score

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - The 24th-ranked University of San Diego baseball team pounded out 15 hits en route to an 11-5 West Coast Conference win over the University of San Francisco Saturday afternoon at AT&T Park.

With the win, the Toreros improve to 23-6 overall, remain perfect in the WCC at 6-0, run their winning streak to seven games and claim the three-game series with the Dons. With the loss, San Francisco falls to 13-16 overall and 0-2 in the WCC.

The Toreros wasted no time in scoring, as they pushed across a pair of runs in the top of the first inning. Andrew Daniel got things rolling with a single to right field. Two batters later, Kris Bryant hit a run-scoring triple to right centerfield to score Daniel from first. Dillon Haupt then drove in Bryant with an RBI single to centerfield to give USD an early 2-0 lead.

USD continued to roll offensively in the top of the second inning, as they scored four more runs to take a 6-0 lead. Connor Joe got things started with a walk, and he moved to third on a Julian Duran double to left field. Austin Bailey then doubled in the first two runs to left field. Corey LeVier then hit a two-run blast to right field to cap the scoring for the inning.

USD then score one run in the fourth, and the Dons would finally get on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fourth, as they scored three runs on a Tom Barry run-scoring double, a Mason Morika sacrifice fly to right field and a Brendon Hendricks RBI single to move the score to 7-3.

USD then added three runs in the seventh and one in the ninth, while USF scored its final two runs in the bottom of the seventh to round off the scoring for the day.

Offensively for the Toreros, LeVier led the way, as he went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI. Daniel (3-for-5), Bailey (2-for-6), Haupt (2-for-5) and Louie Lechich (2-for-5) all recorded multiple hits as well.

Paul Sewald (4-1) picked up the win on the mound for the Toreros, as he allowed four runs on four hits in 6.1 innings of work. Michael Wagner picked up his 12th save of the season, as he allowed no runs on two hits in n1.2 innings of work. Alex Balog (1-2) was saddled with the loss on the mound for the Dons, as he allowed seven runs on 10 hits in 5.0 innings of work.

The Toreros will return to action on Sunday at 1 p.m. as they conclude the three-game series with the Dons.
