Connor Joe kept the hit parade going, as he doubled in Lechich, then moved to third on a wild pitch. Next, the fourth consecutive batter to step to the plate, Andrew Daniel, recorded the fourth straight Torero hit, a single through the left side to score Joe. After Daniel moved up one base on a wild pitch, Hunter Mercado-Hood would reach on a fielding error, which also allowed Daniel to move to third. Ben Wylly then singled in Daniel to give USD a 4-0 lead.

Oklahoma State then got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fourth inning, as they scored three runs to cut the deficit to one. The OSU runs came on a wild pitch, a USD fielding error, and a fielder's choice, to move the score to 4-3.

San Diego then responded in the top of the fifth inning, scoring a pair of runs on a Daniel sacrifice fly to centerfield, which scored Lechich, who had doubled. The second run came on a Mercado-Hood groundout to the first baseman, which scored Joe, who had doubled, to give USD a 6-3 lead.
