Box Score

STOCKTON, Calif. -The University of San Diego baseball team dropped a 5-1 decision in the nightcap of a doubleheader to the University of the Pacific Saturday evening at Klein Family Field.

With the loss, the Toreros fall to 27-16 overall, and 11-9 in the WCC. With the win, the Tigers improve to 23-20 overall and 12-8 in the WCC.

The Tigers got on the scoreboard first, as they pushed across one run in the bottom of the first inning. The Pacific run came on Brett Sullivan RBI single, which scored, Taylor Murphy, who had singled, to give the home team a 1-0 lead.

The Tigers then added three more runs to their lead in the bottom of the fourth inning. The UoP runs came on a Sullivan RBI single, a USD fielding error and a wild pitch, to move the score to 4-0.

After the Tigers tacked on one more run in the bottom of the seventh inning, USD put on their rally caps and attempted a late-inning come back. In the top of the ninth, USD spoiled the shutout by scoring one run on two hits. Josh Goossen-Brown led off the frame with a double. Jesse Jenner then singled to left field, which moved Goossen-Brown to third. Kyle Holderthen drove in Goossen-Brown with a sacrifice fly to centerfield, to put the game at its final of 5-1.

Offensively for the Toreros, six different players recorded one hit to account for all six USD hits.

Lucas Long(3-3) was saddled with the loss on the mound for the Toreros, as he allowed five runs, three earned, on seven hits in 6.0 innings of work. Pacific's Jake Jenkins (5-2) picked up the win for the Tigers, as he allowed one run on six hits in 8.2 innings of work.

The Toreros will return to action on Sunday, as they conclude this three-game series with the Tigers at 1 p.m.
