SAN DIEGO, Calif. â€" The 22nd-ranked University of San Diego women's volleyball team picked up a 3-0 win over the University of the Pacific Thursday evening in a West Coast Conference match at the Jenny Craig Pavilion.
With the win, the Toreros improve to 17-7 overall, and remain in a two-way tie for first place in the WCC at 10-2. With the loss, the Tigers fall to 14-10 overall, and 5-8 in the WCC.
Lisa Kramer paced the USD offense with a match-best 11 kills, while Canace Finley had nine kills, and Jayden Kennedy added in eight more kills with five blocks. Addie Picha recorded seven kills, and added in a team-best seven blocks. Kristen Gengenbacher recorded a match-best 30 assists, and she had seven digs, while Hunter Jennings helped pace the defense with 12 digs.
As a team, USD hit for a .233 clip, while the Tigers were held to just a .108 clip. USD recoded 45 kills, to Pacific's 34, and San Diego out blocked the visitors 12.0-5.0.
For the Tigers, Lexi Elman led the way with nine kills, and she had 18 digs, while hitting for a .139 clip. Kimmy Whitson recorded 28 assists, while Katrin Gotterba recorded 10 digs.
San Diego will return to action on Saturday, as they host Saint Mary's College in a 12 p.m. WCC match at the Jenny Craig Pavilion.
