RIVERSIDE, Calif. - The USD Softball team (7-5) staged their second late inning rally of the day to knock off Michigan State 3-2 in extra innings Saturday afternoon at the Amy S. Harrison Classic at UC Riverside. After giving up two early runs, the Toreros rallied to tie it up in the fifth and then won on a walkoff error in the eighth inning.

The Spartans were first to crack the scoreboard, scoring two on a RBI single in the top of the second. The Toreros got one run back in the bottom of the inning when freshman sensation Kailey Hill hit a solo home run, her third of the season.

The Toreros tied it up at 2-2 in the fifth when Chloe Kaneko, the hero of game one, knocked home Kelsey Borello from second with a RBI single to right field.

With the score knotted at two a piece, the game headed to extra innings where the international tiebreaker rule was in effect. Michigan State's first two batters reached base to load the bases with no outs. The freshman von Sprecken showed great poise and came through in the clutch, retiring the next three batters to get out of the jam.

In the bottom of the eighth, the Toreros also loaded the bases with no outs. Unlike the Spartans, the Toreros were able to take advantage, scoring the game-winning run after a Michigan State error. This is the second time in the last week that the Toreros have won on a walkoff error.

Paige von Sprecken (6-1), who pitched six scoreless innings earlier in the day, threw a complete game allowing two earned runs on seven hits with seven strikeouts.

The Toreros return to action on Sunday with a doubleheader against the host school, UC Riverside, beginning at 11:30 a.m.
