TEMPE, Ariz. - The USD Softball team (2-1) suffered their first loss of the 2015 season with a 4-3 loss to Indiana in Tempe Ariz. Saturday afternoon. After falling behind 3-0, the Toreros rallied to tie it at 3-3, but the Hoosiers scored the winning run in the bottom of the sixth to give USD their first loss of the season.
The Hoosiers scored two in the bottom of the first with a bases loaded two-RBI single by Michelle Huber. They added to their lead in the third when CaraMia Tsirgos singled to knock in Taylor Uden, who reached on a leadoff double.
The Toreros got on the board in the following inning with back-to-back doubles by Mary Grabowski and Kailey Hill to bring the score to 3-1.
In the top of the fifth, USD tied the game when Danielle Mavridis hit a two-run home run to center field, bringing home Kelsey Borello.
The Hoosiers took the lead in the bottom of the sixth when Uden hit a RBI single to right field to bring Rachel O'Malley home.
Grace Hernandez (0-1) took the loss after allowing three earned runs on 11 hits. Indiana's Lora Olson earned the win, giving up three runs on seven hits.
The Toreros will face New Mexico Saturday evening, although the game has been delayed due to previous games in the tournament going long.
