MORAGA, Calif. -- The USD softball team lost their regular season finale 3-1 at Saint Mary's Sunday afternoon. The Toreros end their season with a 29-23 record, their most wins since the 2000 season.
The senior class of Kylie McNutt, Caitlin Rooney, Morgan Kurtz, Chloe Kaneko, Kylie Crawford, and Noelle Devlin end their career with 105 wins, which is the most of any recruiting class under Coach McElvain.
Two first inning USD errors led to two unearned runs for the Gaels, giving Saint Mary's an early 2-0 lead.
USD cut into the deficit the following inning when Danielle Mavridis hit a solo home run to left centerfield. It was Mavridis' third long ball of the season, tying her for the second most on the team.
The Gaels added to their lead in the sixth when Sara Lira hit a RBI double to centerfield.
Grace Hernandez took the loss despite allowing just one earned run. She gave up just four hits and walked on batter while striking out three.
