SAN DIEGO, Calif. â€" Four different Toreros scored in double figures, paced by Malina Hood's game-high 20, as the University of San Diego women's basketball team cruised its way to their sixth consecutive win, defeating Loyola Marymount University, 82-58, Saturday afternoon at the Jenny Craig Pavilion.

With the win, the Toreros tie the best start in program history with the 2013-14 team, as they improve to 18-2 overall, move to 8-1 in the WCC, and are still tied with BYU for first place in the WCC. With the loss, the Lions fall to 7-13 overall, 3-6 in the WCC, and have now dropped four consecutive contests.

Hood scored her game-high 20 points on 8-of-20 shooting from the field, while recording six steals and four rebounds. Maya Hood was the second Torero in double figures, as she scored 16 points, and pulled down 11 rebounds to post a double-double. Aubrey Ward-El scored a career-high 14 points of 6-of-12 from the field, and Sydney Williams chipped in with 10 points. Cori Woodward recorded a career-high eight assists.

As a team, USD shot 43.3% from the field, while LMU shot just 37.7% from the field. The Lions out rebounded the Toreros 45-38, but USD committed just seven turnovers, while the visitors had 19, 11 of those were stolen by USD. The Toreros managed to score 23 points off turnovers, and out scored the Lions in the paint, 36-22.

For the Lions, Sophie Taylor led the way with 13 points on 5-of-14 shooting of the field, while Andee Velasco scored 11 and Bree Alford added in 10 more points. Alford also recorded 11 rebounds to post a double-double.

San Diego will return to action on Thursday, as they begin the second-half of league play with a 7 p.m. game at Pepperdine University.
