SPOKANE, Wash. â€" The fifth-ranked USD volleyball team (16-2, 7-0) picked up a 3-0 win at Gonzaga (11-6, 4-3) Thursday evening to extend their win streak to 15 matches.
Behind 10 kills from Lisa Kramer and Lauren Fuller, the Toreros edged the Zags 26-24, 25-19, 25-16 to remain in sole possession of first place in the WCC.
Kristen Gengenbacher led the team with 18 assists and recorded in 11 digs, which tied with Hunter Jennings for a team-high. Anna Newsome also chipped in 14 assists.
As a team, USD hit for a .287 clip, while the Zags hit .163. USD recorded 45 kills to GU's 33. USD had 50 digs, while the Bulldogs recorded 39 digs.
For the Bulldogs, Emmy Allen recorded a match-high 11 kills, but hit just 0.49. Faith Smith led the team with 15 assists, while just missing a double-double with nine digs. Morgan Douglass, the older sister of Payton Douglass, led Gonzaga with 12 digs.
The Toreros' Northwest road trip continues on Saturday when they play at Portland at noon.
