LOS ANGELES, Calif. â€" The USD swimming team defeated LMU 164-97 on the road Saturday afternoon. The Toreros won both relays and had Bri Jurries, Dani Taylor, and Mackenna Briggs each earned two first place finishes.
The Toreros began the meet by finishing first and third in the 200 yard medley relay. Missy Beall, Jurries, Alex Hubel, and Taylor paced the Toreros to a 1:49.32 finish, two seconds ahead of LMU.
In the next event, the 1000 yard free, freshman Sam Terranova took first place with a time of 10:37.39. The Toreros followed that up with a first and second place finish in the 200 free. Briggs took first with a time of 1:54.72 and Danielle Deiparine was right behind her (1:55.77). Briggs also won the 500 free (5:05.94).
Bri Jurries won both the 100 and 200 yard breaststroke. She finished the 100 in 1:07.24 and the 200 in 2:25.78.
Alex Hubel, the reigning MPSF Athlete of the Week, won the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:10.55.
Dani Taylor won the 50 free and the 100 butterfly. She finished the 50 free in 24.36 and the 100 fly in 57.05.
MK Clancy also earned a first place finish in the 200 backstroke, finishing in 2:09.02. Clancy also had a second place finish in the 400 IM (4:35.96).
The Toreros closed out the event with a victory in the 400 free relay. Taylor, Jurries, Deiparine, and Briggs finished in 3:35.04, six seconds ahead of the Lions.
The Toreros' next event is the Husky Invite December 2-4.
