SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The University of San Diego women's tennis team (7-9, 4-5 WCC) lost a 4-0 match at the hands of the No. 10 Peppedine Waves (17-2, 7-0 WCC) Saturday in Malibu, Calif. The match concludes the Toreros' 2016 conference schedule.

San Diego dropped matches in No. 1 and 3 spots in doubles play to make the score 1-0 in favor of the Waves. Dana Oppinger and Drew Spinosa suffered a 6-0 defeat to No. 23 Luisa Stefani and Apichaya Runglerdkriangkrai. On court No. 3 Colomba DiFilippo and Shani Blecher had a 6-2 match slip away against Dzina Milovanovic and Laura Gulbe.

Maria-Paula Torres lost a 6-2, 6-0 contest to begin singles play. Oppinger lost 6-1, 6-4 on court No. 2 to Gulbe before the match was clinched. DiFilippo lost a difficult 6-3, 6-2 battle against Runglerdkriangkrai to conclude play.

Marta Stojanovic fought No. 5 Stefani in the No. 1 spot but was down a set when play stopped. Spinosa and Blecher also trailed in their matches as the Waves won every set on the day.

The Toreros will play their regular season finale on Wednesday against the San Diego State Aztecs. The match will take place at SDSU at 2 p.m. The Toreros last won the City Championship in 2014 when they out dueled State 4-3.
