SAN DIEGO, Calif. â€" The 10th-ranked University of San Diego women's volleyball team cruised its way to their sixth straight win, with a 3-0 win over Cal State Fullerton Saturday morning at the Jenny Craig Pavilion.
With the win, the Toreros improve to 7-2 overall, have now won six consecutive matches, and remain perfect at home with a 5-0 record. With the loss, the Titans fall to 5-8 overall.
USD's offense was paced by sophomore outside hitter Lauren Fuller's 13 kills, while hitting .370, and she recorded three digs. Lauren Schad was the only other Torero in double digit kills, as she had 11, and hit for a .474 clip. Kristen Gengenbacher recorded 25 assists, and had seven digs, while Hunter Jennings recorded a match-best 17 digs.
As a team, USD hit for a .370 clip, while the Titans hit .203. USD recorded 37 digs, while Fullerton had 25. USD recorded 6.0 blocks, to CSF's 5.0.
For the Titans, Meagan Carlson, who had a team-leading nine kills, paced the offense and she hit for a .562 clip. Setter Rachel Hall recorded 24 assists, and Madisen Babich led the defense with nine digs.
San Diego will return to action later this evening, when they close out play in the USD/SDSU Invitational with a 7 p.m. match against UC Santa Barbara.
